Tracking links and QR codes
Give every poster, ad and partner its own link and QR code, and see the clicks, tickets and revenue each one brings.
Who can do this: Owners, admins and managers can create links. Finance members can also see the results in Reports.
Part 1Create a link for each poster, ad or partner
- 1Click Events in the dashboard sidebar and open your event.
- 2Scroll to Marketing links and QR codes.
- 3Press New tracking link. The form is already open if the event has no links yet.
- 4Type a Name that tells you where it will be used, such as Downtown flyer.
- 5Type a Channel such as print, social or radio. This is optional and groups links in reports.
- 6Type a short Custom code if you want to choose the ending of the link. This is optional.
- 7Press Create link.
- 8Repeat for every place you advertise. One link per poster, post, ad or partner gives the clearest answer.
Codes are saved in lowercase with hyphens. If a code is already used on this event, a number is added to the end. Links cannot be renamed or deleted after they are created.
Part 2Use the link and the QR code
- 1Find the card for your link under Marketing links and QR codes.
- 2Press Copy to copy the full web address. Paste it into a post, an ad or an email.
- 3Right-click the QR code on the card and save the image. On a phone, press and hold it.
- 4Place the saved QR code in your poster or flyer artwork. It stays sharp at any print size.
- 5Scan the printed proof with your phone camera before you print the full run.
There is no separate download button. The QR code on the card is the image you save.
Part 3Print before the event is on sale
Posters often go out before tickets do. A QR code for a draft event does not show an error.
- 1Create your links while the event is still a draft.
- 2Read the yellow note that starts This event is not published. It reminds you what the public sees.
- 3Scan the code while signed out. The page says "Tickets are not on sale yet" with your company name and nothing else about the event.
- 4Scan the code while signed in. You see the full page with a Draft preview banner.
- 5Set the status to Published in Event details when you are ready. The same QR code now opens the live event page.
Visits to a draft event are not counted.
Part 4See what each link brought in
- 1Open the event and scroll to Marketing links and QR codes. Each card shows Clicks, Tickets and Revenue.
- 2Click Reports at the top of the event page for charts.
- 3Open the Tracking links and clicks report. It shows Link clicks, Orders from links, Revenue from links, Click to order and Active links.
- 4Read the Link performance table for every link, and By channel for the totals of each channel.
- 5Press Download CSV to take the tables into a spreadsheet.
Clicks counts every time the event page is opened through the link, including repeat visits. Orders, tickets and revenue count only paid orders that were started from that link. Revenue is the full order total.
Tips
- Give each partner or promoter their own link so you can see who really sells tickets.
- The channel you type is also saved as the UTM source for the link, which the report shows beside each link.
- When an order used both a tracking link and a promo code, reports count it under the tracking link.
If something goes wrong
A scanned QR code says "Tickets are not on sale yet".
The event is still a draft. Open the event, set the status to Published in Event details, and scan again. You do not need a new QR code.
A link has clicks but no tickets or revenue.
Sales only count when the buyer starts checkout from the page that the link opened. If they came back later by typing your address or through another link, the sale is not tied to this link.
You see "Give this tracking link a name."
The Name box is empty. Type a name and press Create link again.
