Share links and referrals
Every buyer gets a personal link to share, and Ticket-Worx counts the friends who visit and buy through it.
Who can do this: Owners, admins and managers can see results on the Marketing and Customers pages. Finance members can see them in Reports.
Part 1See what the buyer gets
A share link is made automatically the first time a buyer pays for an order on an event. You do not switch anything on.
- 1Open any paid order. Click Orders, then click the order number.
- 2Find Bring your friends under the tickets. It shows the buyer's personal link and a Copy link button.
- 3See the share buttons: Facebook, X, WhatsApp, LinkedIn, Text message and Email. Phones also show Share (Instagram, TikTok and more).
- 4Check the confirmation email. It includes the same personal link.
- 5Know that the link opens your normal event page. It gives no discount to the friend or the buyer.
Each buyer has one link per event, and it stays the same if they buy again. A box office sale made without an email gets no share link. While a giveaway is running, Bring your friends also shows the buyer's entries.
Part 2Understand how referrals are counted
- 1Count a friend visit when a different person opens the link. The same person opening it again adds to total visits but not to unique friends.
- 2Count a friend purchase when someone opens the link and pays for an order from that page.
- 3Count the full order total as the revenue the buyer brought in.
- 4Expect nothing to count when buyers use their own link. Visits from the buyer's own browser are ignored, and an order placed with the link owner's email earns no credit.
- 5Expect a link to count only for its own event.
Referral credit is a count for you to act on. Buyers are not paid or rewarded automatically, except with giveaway entries while a giveaway is running.
Part 3Find your best sharers
- 1Click Marketing in the dashboard sidebar. Read Friends via share links and Friend purchases at the top.
- 2Click Customers and open a buyer. Read Friends referred and the Share links table, with Visits, Unique friends, Friends who bought and Revenue driven.
- 3Click Reports and choose Buyer shares and referrals.
- 4Read Top sharers to see which buyers brought the most friend visits, orders and revenue.
- 5Read Shares by platform to see which share buttons are pressed most.
- 6Press Download CSV to keep the list, for example to thank your top sharers.
Share button presses are counted, but a press cannot prove that a post was published. Friend visits and friend orders are verified.
Tips
- Run a giveaway to give buyers a reason to share. Friend visits and friend purchases can each earn entries.
- In the Sales channels report, these sales appear as "Buyer share link". If an order came through both a tracking link and a share link, it is listed under the tracking link.
- For Instagram or TikTok on a computer, buyers copy the link and add it to their story or bio.
If something goes wrong
A friend bought, but the buyer got no credit.
The friend has to open the share link and buy from the page it opens. If they came back later by typing your address, used a different link, or used the same email as the link's owner, the order is not credited.
A buyer keeps opening their own link and the visits do not go up.
That is intended. The browser that viewed the order page is marked as the owner, and its visits are never counted.
A buyer cannot find their share link.
It only appears on paid orders that have an email address. Find the order on the Orders page, click the order number, and send the buyer that page. The link is under Bring your friends.
