Create an event
Start a new event from the dashboard by giving it a title, a start and an end, then finish setting it up while it is still a draft.
Who can do this: Owners, admins and managers.
Part 1Create the event
A new event is always created as a draft. Nobody outside your team can see it until you publish it.
- 1Click Events in the dashboard sidebar.
- 2Click New event at the top right.
- 3Type the name of your event in Event title. It needs at least 2 characters.
- 4Add a short tagline in Subtitle if you want one. It shows under the title on your event page.
- 5Write what buyers should know in Description. It shows on your event page under About this event.
- 6Set the date and time in Starts.
- 7Set the date and time in Ends. It must be later than the start.
- 8Tick This is a multi-day event only if your event runs over more than one date and you want day tickets or passes.
- 9Click Create event.
You land on the event's own page. The badge at the top right shows DRAFT until you publish.
Part 2Finish the event details
The Event details card at the top of the event page holds the basics you can change at any time.
- 1Click Events in the sidebar, then click the name of your event.
- 2Change Title, Subtitle or Description in the Event details card.
- 3Add a Cover image and a Video URL if you have them.
- 4Set Max tickets per order to the most tickets one buyer may take in a single order, from 1 to 100.
- 5Leave Status on Draft - not visible to anyone while you are still setting up.
- 6Click Save changes. A green Saved. message confirms it.
Next, scroll down the same page to add ticket types. An event cannot be published without at least one.
Tips
- All times are Central Time, whatever time zone your own computer is in. The event page says so under the Ends box.
- To change the date or time later, open the event, edit Starts and Ends under Event details, and click Save changes. On a multi-day event every day moves with the new start. The multi-day choice itself cannot be changed afterward.
- The web address of your event page is made from the title you type when you create it. Renaming the event later does not change the link, so flyers you already printed keep working.
- The numbers at the top of the event page (Gross sales, Your payout, Orders, Tickets issued) fill in as soon as you start selling.
If something goes wrong
You see "The event must end after it starts."
The Ends date and time is the same as or earlier than Starts. Move Ends later and click Create event again.
You see "Give the event a title."
The title is empty or only one character long. Type at least 2 characters in Event title.
You do not see the New event button, or the page will not open.
Your login does not have permission to edit events. Only owners, admins and managers can. Ask an owner or admin to change your role under Settings, in the Team section.
