Box office (day-of) pricing
Optionally raise or change a ticket's price from a date and time you choose, such as the morning of the event.
Who can do this: Owners, admins and managers.
Before you start
- Add the ticket type first. The box office price is set on a ticket type that already exists.
Part 1How the rule works
A box office price is completely optional. A ticket keeps its normal price forever unless you enter both a box office price and the date and time it starts.
- 1Know that nothing changes by itself. Ticket-Worx never switches to a day-of price because the event date arrived.
- 2Enter both parts. A price needs a start time, and the form will not save one without the other.
- 3Expect the switch at the exact moment you chose, and not before.
- 4Expect the new price everywhere from that moment: on your event page, in checkout, and on the box office selling screen.
Part 2Add a box office price
- 1Click Events in the sidebar, then click the name of your event.
- 2Scroll to the Ticket types table.
- 3Click Add box office price under the price of the ticket type.
- 4Enter the day-of price in Box office price (USD).
- 5Pick the date and time in Starts at.
- 6Click Save.
The table now shows the box office price and when it starts, for example "$30.00 box office from Oct 4, 8:00 AM". Once the time has passed it shows "(in effect now)".
Part 3Change or remove it
- 1Click Change next to the box office price in the Ticket types table.
- 2Edit the price or the Starts at time and click Save.
- 3Click Remove to go back to a single price with no day-of change.
Removing the box office price after it has started puts the ticket back to its normal price right away.
Tips
- Before the switch, buyers see a small note under the current price, such as "$30.00 from Oct 4, 8:00 AM". It lets them know the price is going up.
- The Starts at time is read on the clock of the computer you are using. Set it from a computer or phone that is in the same time zone as your event.
- The box office price can be lower than the normal price too. It is simply the price from that moment on.
- Orders already paid are not affected. Only purchases made after the start time use the new price.
If something goes wrong
You see "Choose the date and time the box office price starts."
You entered a price with no start. Fill in Starts at and click Save. A price with no start time is never used.
You see "Enter the box office price in dollars, e.g. 25.00."
Type the price as a plain number such as 25 or 25.00, with no dollar sign.
It is event day and the price did not go up.
That is by design when no box office price is set. Open the event, find the ticket type, and check that a box office price and start time are shown under the price. If not, click Add box office price and set Starts at to a time that has already passed to switch now.
