Your terms, refund policy and privacy policy

Add the terms and conditions buyers must agree to and sign at checkout, including your refund policy, plus your privacy policy.

Who can do this: Owners and admins can edit company policies. Managers can also set terms for a single event.

Part 1Add your company terms and privacy policy

Tickets cannot be sold online until your terms are filled in. There is no separate refund policy box, so put your refund rules inside your terms.

  1. 1Click Settings in the sidebar.
  2. 2Click Terms and privacy at the top of the page, or scroll to Terms and privacy policy.
  3. 3Click Start from a template above Terms and conditions to load a starter you can edit. Or paste your own wording.
  4. 4Edit the text to match your event. Check the Refunds paragraph says what you really offer.
  5. 5Click Start from a template above Privacy policy, or paste your own.
  6. 6Delete the template reminder line at the bottom of each box once your adviser has reviewed the text.
  7. 7Click Save policies. You see Policies saved. New buyers will agree to this wording.

Each policy can be up to 50,000 characters. The templates are a starting point only, not legal advice.

Part 2Use different terms for one event

Use this for an event with its own rules, such as a festival with camping or a 21+ show.

  1. 1Click Events in the sidebar and open the event.
  2. 2Scroll to the bottom and click Event terms and conditions to open it.
  3. 3Type or paste the wording in Terms for this event only. Click Start from a template to begin from your company terms.
  4. 4Click Save policies.
  5. 5Clear the box and save again to go back to your company terms.

The line beside Event terms and conditions tells you which terms apply: Custom terms for this event, Using company terms, or No terms yet - required to sell. The privacy policy is always the company one.

Part 3What buyers see at checkout

  1. 1Know that buyers must check a box that says they have read and agree to your terms and conditions and privacy policy.
  2. 2Know that buyers can click the linked words to read each policy in a pop-up.
  3. 3Know that buyers type their Full name, then sign by choosing Type or Draw under Signature.
  4. 4Know that the order cannot be placed until the box is checked and the signature is complete.
  5. 5Click Customers in the sidebar and open a customer to see the Signed terms column, with the name signed, Typed or Drawn, and the date.

Sales made in person at your box office do not ask for a signature.

Tips

  • Editing your terms later does not change what past buyers agreed to. Each order keeps a copy of the exact wording that buyer signed.
  • Be clear about refunds, weather, postponements and age limits. This wording is what you point to if a buyer disputes a charge.
  • If you leave Privacy policy empty, buyers are only asked to agree to your terms and conditions.

If something goes wrong

Settings shows an amber notice that says Add your terms and conditions to start selling.

Your Terms and conditions box is empty. Fill it in and click Save policies.

Buyers see "This organizer has not published their terms and conditions yet, so tickets cannot be sold."

Neither the event nor your company has terms saved. Add them under Terms and privacy policy in Settings.

You see "Policies can be at most 50,000 characters each."

Shorten the text in the box that is too long, then click Save policies again.

Clicking Start from a template asks "Replace your current text with the starter template?"

The box already has text. Click OK only if you want to throw away what is there and start over from the template.
