Connect Stripe to get paid

Connect your own Stripe account so card payments for your tickets go straight to you.

Who can do this: Owners and admins.

Before you start

  • Have your business details and bank account information ready. Stripe asks for them.

Part 1How the money moves

Ticket-Worx never holds your ticket money. Every card payment is made on your own Stripe account.

  1. 1Know that ticket money lands in your own Stripe balance, then goes to your bank on Stripe's schedule.
  2. 2Know that Ticket-Worx only receives its platform fee. Stripe collects it from each sale and sends it to Ticket-Worx.
  3. 3Know that Stripe's card fee comes out of your Stripe balance, unless you pass it on to buyers.
  4. 4Know that refunds, disputes and chargebacks are handled in your Stripe account.

You get the full Stripe Dashboard, so you can see every payment and payout there.

Part 2Connect your Stripe account

  1. 1Click Settings in the sidebar.
  2. 2Find the Getting paid section at the top of the page.
  3. 3Click Connect Stripe. The button shows Opening Stripe... and you are taken to Stripe.
  4. 4Answer Stripe's questions about your business and add your bank account.
  5. 5Finish the last Stripe step. Stripe sends you back to Settings.
  6. 6Check that the heading now says Connected to Stripe and Charges enabled shows Yes.

If you leave Stripe partway through, click Connect Stripe again. You pick up where you left off.

Part 3Read the statuses on screen

The Getting paid section shows where your Stripe setup stands.

  1. 1Look at the heading. Not connected yet means Stripe has not turned on payouts to your bank. Connected to Stripe means payouts are on.
  2. 2Look at Charges enabled. Yes means buyers can pay by card now. No means card payments are refused.
  3. 3Look at Platform fee. This is what Ticket-Worx charges, for example an amount per ticket.
  4. 4Look at Card processing. This is the card rate used when the card fee is passed on to buyers.
  5. 5Click Manage on Stripe once you are connected to update your details with Stripe.

Stripe tells Ticket-Worx when your account changes. If a status looks out of date, wait a minute and reload the page.

Tips

  • Stripe is prefilled with your company name and your Support email from Company profile. Check they are right before you click Connect Stripe.
  • Free orders, such as comp tickets, do not need Stripe. Anything with a price does.
  • The platform fee is not returned when you refund a buyer.
  • Card readers for your box office can only be added after Charges enabled shows Yes.

If something goes wrong

Charges enabled still shows No after you finished Stripe's questions.

Stripe may still be checking your details or may need one more document. Click Connect Stripe or Manage on Stripe again and complete anything Stripe asks for, then reload Settings.

You see "Could not start Stripe onboarding. Please try again."

Wait a moment and click the button again. If it keeps happening, contact Ticket-Worx.

Buyers see "This organizer cannot accept payments yet. Please try again later."

Your Stripe account cannot take charges yet. Finish Stripe setup until Charges enabled shows Yes.

Your box office shows "This company cannot take card payments yet. Take cash, or finish connecting Stripe in Settings."

Take cash for now, then finish Stripe setup under Getting paid in Settings.
