Stage, shapes and text labels
Show buyers where the stage, dance floor, bars and exits are by adding shapes and text labels to your chart.
Who can do this: Owners, admins and managers.
Before you start
- Create a chart first. See the article on building a seating chart.
Part 1Add a stage or another shape
Shapes are areas with no seats. They sit behind the seats and help buyers get their bearings.
- 1Click Seating in the dashboard sidebar, then click your chart.
- 2Find the Add: row above the chart.
- 3Click Stage to add a wide box at the top of the chart that already says STAGE.
- 4Click Rectangle, Square or Circle to add a blank shape for anything else.
- 5Drag the shape to where it belongs.
Part 2Name, resize and color a shape
- 1Click the shape to select it. The panel on the right shows Area: and the shape's name.
- 2Type what it is in Label, such as Bar, Dance floor or Exit. The label can be up to 60 characters and is shown in the middle of the shape.
- 3Change Shape to Rectangle or Circle / oval if you picked the wrong one.
- 4Type new numbers in Width and Height to resize it. Each goes from 10 to 5,000. Use different numbers on a circle to make an oval.
- 5Drag the Rotation slider to turn it.
- 6Click one of the color squares under Color, or click the last box to pick any color.
- 7Click Save chart.
The label text switches between dark and light on its own so it stays readable on any color.
Part 3Add a text label
A text label is plain text with no box around it. Use it for things like North Entrance, Restrooms or Seat 1 this side.
- 1Click Text label in the Add: row.
- 2Type your words in Text. A label can be up to 120 characters.
- 3Drag the Size slider to make the text bigger or smaller, from 8 to 72.
- 4Drag the Rotation slider to turn the text, for example to run it along a side wall.
- 5Drag the label into place on the chart.
- 6Click Save chart.
Tips
- Find every shape and label under Areas and labels in the On this chart list. Click a name there to select something that is hard to click on the chart.
- Shapes are resized with the Width and Height boxes. There are no drag handles on the corners.
- Click Duplicate to copy a shape or label, for example to make matching bars on both sides of the room.
- Buyers see shapes and labels exactly as you drew them. Their map is trimmed to fit what is on the chart, so empty space around the edges does not matter.
If something goes wrong
The chart will not save after you cleared the words from a text label.
A text label cannot be empty. Type some text in Text, or select the label and click Delete, then save again.
A shape is in the way and you cannot click the seats near it.
Shapes are drawn behind seats, so you can still click the seats themselves. To select the section, click its name under On this chart.
You deleted a shape or label by mistake.
Click Undo above the chart, or click an empty part of the chart and press Ctrl+Z.
