Ask buyers your own questions at checkout

Write your own questions for buyers, such as shirt size or how they heard about the event, and download the answers.

Who can do this: Owners, admins and managers.

Before you start

  • Create the event first. Questions belong to one event.

Part 1Add a question

  1. 1Click Events in the sidebar, then click the name of your event.
  2. 2Scroll to Checkout questions.
  3. 3Type your question in Your question, for example "What shirt size do you wear?"
  4. 4Choose how buyers answer in How they answer: they type an answer, they pick from your list, or yes or no.
  5. 5If they pick from your list, type the choices in The choices, one per line.
  6. 6Choose Once per order or For each ticket in the order in Ask it. Use each ticket for things like shirt size, where every person needs their own answer.
  7. 7Tick Buyers must answer this to check out if the answer is required.
  8. 8Click Add question. Buyers see it at checkout right away.

Questions are asked at online checkout only. Sales at the box office skip them so the line keeps moving. An event can ask up to 12 questions.

Part 2See the answers

  1. 1Scroll to Checkout questions on the event page. The Answers column counts the answers to each question.
  2. 2Click Download the answers (spreadsheet) for a file with one row per order and one column per question.
  3. 3Click Orders in the sidebar to see each buyer's answers under their name.

Part 3Stop asking a question

  1. 1Scroll to Checkout questions on the event page.
  2. 2Click Turn off next to the question. The answers already given are kept.
  3. 3Click Delete instead to remove a question nobody has answered yet.
